DO YOU NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT?
{Hebrews 12:1}- Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, LET US STRIP OFF EVERY WEIGHT THAT SLOWS US DOWN, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
So many people are walking around today who are overweight. Yes, they are "morbidly obese." In other words, they are carrying around so much "weight," that they are slowly dying!
My friends, before you stop reading this because you believe you are not one who this applies to, let me say that I am not speaking about physical weight, but spiritual weight. See, so many of us are walking around carrying anger, hurt, bitterness, un-forgiveness, rejection, fear, worry, doubt, unbelief, insecurities, stress, etc. Some of us don't even realize that unless we are willing to shed these "extra pounds," we will only destroy ourselves! And many truly want to lose the "weight," but don't know where to begin. Well, here's a start:
(1). ACKNOWLEDGE/CONFESS that you have a problem- you are "overweight." The 1st step in deliverance and healing from any problem, is acknowledgement/confession.
(2). Next, you have to SUBMIT/GIVE IN to the Lord and be willing to allow Him to help you clean out the mess! Don't try to do it all on your own! It's impossible! That will only leave you feeling frustrated! You will begin to feel helpless and hopeless! But allowing HIM to work, will give you peace of mind- and amazing results!
(3). Finally, you must CONFRONT/TACKLE the problem. You have to allow the Holy Spirit to implement His "diet plan," which may be strict- but there is no freedom without sacrifice! So you have to be willing to "stick to the diet." You have to remain firm and consistent and remember to take (accept) His "daily dosage" of grace and mercy as you will need these, because "shedding all those pounds" is not easy! We have to allow Him to shine His Light into the deepest recesses of our hearts, and expose any and everything (all the "dirt and clutter") piling up in there! You may only notice subtle changes that take place little by little, but be patient! Remember, it took you a long time to "gain all of that weight," so it will take some time to "lose" it all!
