I AM SO ANGRY!!!

I AM SO ANGRY!!!

(Ephesians 4:26-27)-"Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil."

(James 1:19-20)-"Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires."

All of us, at one time or another, feel anger. It could be because of something someone said or did to us, it could be because of something we ourselves have said or done-or forgot to do, etc. There are numerous things that can set us off! Some easier than others.
God gave us our emotions, including anger. So anger in and of itself is not wrong. It's how we deal with our anger that can become the problem!
(Mark 3:5)-"He (Jesus) looked around at them angrily and was deeply saddened by their hard hearts. Then he said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” So the man held out his hand, and it was restored!"
In the above passage, we see Jesus healing a man on the Sabbath. Something that the RELIGIOUS LEADERS were so against! They were so into keeping the law, that they forgot the more important things: like the value of a human being! That made Jesus angry! Jesus also showed anger when the people were selling things in the temple! Jesus was so angry that he overturned the moneychangers tables! They were disrespecting the house of God! (Matthew 21:12-13)
So you see, there is a such thing called 'righteous indignation' or righteous anger. It is justified and stems from an injustice done to us or another innocent party! It can be outright disrespect or disregard for the Lord's commandments; it could be due to abuse, murder, etc.
But there is some anger that is rooted in pride! It's focus is on self! "How dare they say or do this or that to me!" Or we may get angry when something doesn't go the way we planned! Or someone doesn't do what we asked, when we asked! Again, there are numerous causes!
My friends, we have to learn how to control our anger, and stop allowing the anger to control us! Many relationships have been destroyed because of things said or done in the heat of anger! Many people are even in jail or dead, because of uncontrolled anger! Once we say or do things, there is no taking them back! One outburst of anger, can cause us (and others) a lifetime of pain!
Let us seek the Lord and ask Him to teach us how to properly deal with this emotion, so that we don't give the enemy a foothold into our lives, where he can destroy us and others through us because of uncontrolled anger!
PRAYER: Father, please keep us from being so easily angered; and when we do have a justified cause to be angry, teach us how to handle it properly-and to use it in a productive manner and not cause further harm! Change us into the image of Your Son. Thank You Father! In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen!
