WHEN SILENCE IS GOLDEN

WHEN SILENCE IS GOLDEN

Ecclesiastes 3:7 (Amplified Bible)

............ A time to keep silence and a time to speak,..........

Matthew 12:36-37 (Amplified Bible)

36But I tell you, on the day of judgment men will have to give account for every [a]idle (inoperative, nonworking) word they speak.

37For by your words you will be justified and acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned and sentenced.

As you see in today's scripture, we will be judged by the words we speak; and as the Holy Spirit showed me, by those words we DON'T speak that need to be spoken as well! Again you see in today's other scripture, there is a TIME to speak and a time to remain silent! But how do we know the difference? Well this is where discernment comes in. We have to learn to seek the Holy Spirit on matters of the mouth! But you see, there are times when our God given common sense is all that is needed! But today we will be focusing on KEEPING QUIET! We have to THINK before opening up our mouths! Try asking yourself some of these questions before speaking:

1). Is what I am about to say going to edify or discourage this person?

2). Is this MY opinion or fact? (the flesh vs. The Spirit)..... Even IF it is fact, will this help or make for a bad situation.. Or make an already bad situation worse?

3). WHY am I about to say this? Is this the Holy Spirit's leading? Am I hurt? Angry? Scared? Is this for MY own benefit, to make me look and feel better? For revenge? OR is it because I truly love and care about this person?

4). Is this a good TIME or PLACE to speak these words? How will this come across?

These are just a FEW of the many questions you can ask yourself, but the point is to take a moment to think before we speak out and cause undue harm to not only others, but ourselves! Remember we are held accountable for the words we speak..... Sometimes SILENCE IS GOLDEN!

Now of course there ARE times when the Lord will lead us to speak to someone about something that may be difficult for us to say and for them to hear; the truth CAN be very painful, but it is liberating for those willing to accept it and learn from it! In those cases, we need to really pray and ask the Lord to put HIS words in our mouths, and to give us the right time and place to speak. And of course, we are to speak the truth in love. (Ephesians 4:14-15) And the truth is always what GOD says not our own personal views! We have to know when to speak my friends, and WHEN SILENCE IS GOLDEN!

Allow me to share with you something that I've learned AGAIN recently. Just because we disagree with something someone says, or feel we have something more to add, does NOT mean we should comment! Sometimes when we read or hear something that we disagree with or feel needs further clarification; we have to agree to disagree and keep silent, PRAY for the person and people reading, and keep it moving! I know personally, that I have a teaching and prophetic anointing. Now with the teaching anointing, I often feel the need to explain (sometimes OVER explaining) and/or clarify and go deeper into a subject. With the prophetic anointing, I feel the need to correct/admonish or confront the sin in people's lives. BUT there has to be a BALANCE and a leading from the Holy Spirit, or I can so easily cross over into the flesh! And what was meant to help, can hinder or discourage someone! What was meant to lead others to the knowledge of the truth, or draw them closer to Christ, can push them away! So you see, sometimes SILENCE IS GOLDEN!

Even when people are persecuting us, we have to sometimes give up the 'right' to defend ourselves. (Isaiah 53:7) Especially when we know it's not going to change a person's views or actions anyway! We have to learn to STOP trying to explain ourselves to everybody who disagrees with us when we know we are following the Lord! We have to know when to LET GO and LET GOD! Many times we don't have to say a word anyway, because if you sit still long enough and just watch and listen, the person will hang their self! Yes, we have got to learn when to speak, and WHEN SILENCE IS GOLDEN!

WATCH AND PRAY MY FRIENDS! WATCH AND PRAY!

  1. Well spoken..you know I learned a long time ago everyone will never always agree with us, but the important thing is how we deal with it. Just the other day on my radio show I mentioned that when people want to debate with you we don't need to debate the word of God you give them what it says if they ask question about it you explain it if you can if not then be honest and tell them I will get back with you on this. I've found out that when we go into a debate with anyone rather it is a saint or sinner the enemy want to see if we are going to come out of character.. May you be blessed this day my dear.
